Things To Do in Brattleboro Vermont
Once you have made your reservation to stay with us you will want to know what to do when you are in Brattleboro. Please check out our recommendations on what to see, do, and eat.
First off we are within walking distance to downtown Brattleboro from our waterfront property. Downtown offers dozens of Restaurants, Shops, Galleries, and Pubs. Or take a stroll on the trails that run along the waterfront from our backyard.
Walk to Downtown Brattleboro
From Inn on Putney Road B&B, you can stroll a few blocks past the park to downtown Brattleboro and its many fine restaurants, theaters, art museum & galleries, bookstores, numerous sporting goods stores, and unique shops.
Brattleboro, Vermont is home to many musical events, as well as numerous festivals, parades, etc… There is just so much to see and do here; you can’t help but fall in love with the place! You may even end up moving here as we did!
Shopping and Dining
You can shop till you drop in Brattleboro! Check out some of the unique stores on and off of Main Street. There are dozens of shops walk-able from the inn. And if you get hungry from all of the walking – check out one of Brattleboro’s 30+ Restaurants and Pubs.
Hiking in Brattleboro Vermont
There are abundant hiking options near the inn. Some even start right in our own backyard. For just a stroll, explore the Retreat Trails. For something more challenging try Mount Wantastiquet. For the truly adventurous, we are a short drive from Mt. Monadnock, the most climbed mountain in the world.
Art and Theater in Brattleboro Vermont
Brattleboro is home to many fine shops and galleries. The First Friday of every month brings the Gallery Walk – an awesome night of open houses and art. There is a host of theaters in town as well. From live theater, like NEYT and the Hooker-Dunham, to a restored Art Deco Movie Theater at the Latchis.
Brattleboro Farmers Market
Brattleboro is home to an incredible Farmers Market held every Saturday in the warmer months and monthly in the winter. It’s a great spot to pick up some fresh food or eat lunch.
Biking in Brattleboro Vermont
Good bike routes for all levels offer a variety of settings and challenges. We have printed turn by turn directions at the inn for several bike rides. One even takes you on a trip through three New England states!
Kayaking, Canoeing, and Tubing
Being that we are on the water, we are in a great spot for kayak, canoe, and fishing trips. We can even take you tubing. Just down the street is a rental shop, which can provide a tube, kayak, or canoe for a few hours or the whole day.
Skiing in New England
We are ideally situated about 45 minutes from five major ski areas: Mt. Snow/Haystack, Stratton, Bromley, Magic Mountain, and Okemo.
Schools and Colleges
Inn on Putney Road Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located near Marlboro College, Landmark College and the School for International Training. There is no reason you shouldn’t be comfortable while you are visiting your family scholar!
Harris Ski Jump
The Harris Hill Ski Jump, the only Olympic-sized, 90-meter ski jumping hill in New England, will play host to its annual two-day ski jumping event in 2021..
Founded in 1922, the annual jumping competition held on Harris Hill attracts several thousand spectators each year not only to watch local jumpers reach great heights but also to view world renowned jumpers soar in the sport of ski jumping.
The three major competitions, merged with the annual Pepsi Challenge and Fred Harris Memorial Tournament, will draw the best male and female ski jumpers from across the globe to Brattleboro. One of the biggest things to do in Brattleboro is coming to this event. Book with us early so you can get a room as we always sell out.
Competition each day will start at 11 a.m. and will conclude by 4 p.m. A family event, Harris Hill Ski Jumping Competition weekend includes opening ceremonies, appearances by Jumper the mascot, food and drink vendors, a bonfire and more.
Ticket sales for the event will commence in January 2016. Early ticket purchase sales offer up to 20 percent savings on adult tickets. Regular ticket pricing is $20 adults, $15 youth (age 6-12 years). Age 6 and younger are always free.
