Whether it’s the allure of the landscapes, the richness of the culture, or the warmth of the community, Southern Vermont provides an unforgettable experience for all who visit. Below, we’ve listed a few of our favorite day trips to enjoy from our Vermont Bed and Breakfast.
- Another charming town in Southern Vermont worth visiting is Manchester. It’s about 90 minutes northwest of our Vermont Bed and Breakfast. There, you can visit Hildane, the Lincoln Family Home, the Southern Vermont Arts Center, or the American Museum of Fly Fishing. Hike or drive to stunning views from Mount Equinox and enjoy the scenic drive to Stratton Mountain.
- You can’t come to Vermont and not taste some cheese, and the best place to do that is the Grafton Cheese Farm. You can visit the location just outside downtown Brattleboro or take the scenic drive to Grafton itself, which we highly recommend. Grafton is unbelievably scenic, with everything you want in a Vermont day trip, including tree-lined roads, two covered bridges, babbling brooks, sheep in pastures, and delicious cheese.
- Another option is to take Route 30 north out of Brattleboro to Route 100 north to Weston, where you can enjoy shopping through history at the Vermont Country Store. The drive also happens to be one of the most scenic! From there, continue south on Route 100 to the Mount Snow region and the beautiful town of Wilmington.
- In Wilmington, you’ll find a nature-centered experience. It’s tucked into the southern end of the Green Mountains and is a serene place to spend a day immersed in natural beauty. There are plenty of things to do here, but don’t miss the gorgeous five-state overlook from Hogback Mountain.
- Another excellent day trip from our Southern Vermont Bed and Breakfast is Bennington. The town is known for its vibrant arts scene and rich history. It’s home to a monument to the Battle of Bennington, plenty of great shops and galleries to explore, and some classic southern Vermont beauty.
- If you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery with no particular destination in mind, there are plenty of Day Trip options near Brattleboro. One of our favorites is the Molly Stark Scenic Byway – a stunning drive through the Green Mountain National Forest.
