More Great Skiing in Vermont This Winter

Though Mount Snow, Vermont is home to some of the best skiing in Vermont, it’s certainly not the only place worth visiting in the southern part of the state! Downhill skiing and snowboarding aren’t your only options for enjoying Vermont in the winter, either. There are also plenty of trails and places for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Consider places like the Retreat Trails. Brattleboro Outing Club, Grafton Ponds, and Pisgah State Park.

You can even head over to the Harris Hill Ski Jump for an exciting afternoon, either participating in or watching this famed Olympic sport! It’s the only 90-meter ski jump in New England and one of only six in the USA of this size and caliber. They host an exciting jumping event each February.

  1. The closest place to Brattleboro to enjoy skiing in Vermont is the Brattleboro Ski Hill. It’s just over 5 minutes from the Inn on Putney Road and is usually open for the season by the end of December. It’s small in size and perfect for a quick and easy trip to the snow. It’s perfect for beginners, too, and you won’t spend very much on lift tickets. They are just $5!
  2. For more big mountain skiing in Vermont, head just under an hour away to Stratton Mountain. Stratton Mountain has an impressive 99 runs, including several glades, and there are several high-speed lifts to get you on the snow and skiing in no time at all. Stratton Mountain is also where you’ll find the highest peak in the state, with an impressive 2,000-foot vertical drop.
  3. If you’re up for a drive, even Bromley and Killington Ski Resorts are within easy reaching distance for the day – at around 60 and 90 minutes, respectively.
